Congress is Raising YOUR Internet Bill PDF Print E-mail

Congress is Raising YOUR Internet Bill...

Dear Friend,

74 Democratic members of Congress just sold you out to AT&T, Verizon and Comcast.

They signed industry-backed letters telling the FCC to abandon efforts to protect Internet users by prohibiting big companies from blocking Internet traffic.

Not only is this letter an attack on net neutrality, but by signing the industry letter, they are attempting to drastically undercut the FCC's ability to make a fast, affordable and open Internet available to everyone in America. They are actually taking a position against the interests of rural and low-income communities. That is most of Lake County by the way...

This is unacceptable.

We need to make sure these members of Congress know that their constituents are paying attention and will hold them accountable when they undermine net neutrality protections.

I just signed a petition to these 74 House Democrats telling them that I'm upset by their decision to side with the wealthy telecommunications corporations over their constituents. I hope you do, too.

Have a look and take action at the link below.

Natalie on the News

With all the layoffs and foreclosures, a lot more people are homeless now than ever before, and things were already really bad before. Lake County has been hit hard just like the rest of the nation. The LCCAA (Lake County Community Action Agency) is taking action on the problem. If you don't know who they are, they run the local food bank and put food on hungry peoples tables, help rehabilitate drug addicted mothers with children, run a safehouse for battered women, and all kinds of other really good things. The LCCAA is now working on putting together a program to help Lake County's homeless. They are already helping the homeless with food, blankets, clothing, even some housing if available, but now the gals at the LCCAA are working on making helping the homeless a full on project and priority with funding, extra staffing, and an online interactive database to help connect people in need with people who want to help. The database is in the planning stages, but if you are hungry... If you are hurting... Well you probably aren't online reading this... But if you know anyone who is, or if you want to help and donate some food or clothing or other staples of life, or your time, contact the LCCAA at 995-0496 or visit their site at http://www.LakePartnership.org  and let's see what we can do together!!!

IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS A "PROBLEM" WITH DRUGS, ALCOHOL, CRIME, OR VIOLENCE, THEN THIS IS A MUST SEE VIDEO... NO BULLSHIT... PURE SCIENCE... WORTH YOUR TIME!!! 45 MINUTES... Learn how you and other people actually work!!! Watch it 2 or 3 times... I did... In this lecture, Dr. Russell Blaylock explains one of the most important connections between nutrition and our health- how nutrition affects our behavior. Citing a series of important studies, he shows that good nutrition can powerfully enhance our memory, mood, and behavior in a socially desirable way. Like wise he shows us that poor nutrition can lead our youth into a world of violence, crime, depression and suicide. By using an impressive array of studies on both juvenile and adult prisoners, Dr. Blaylock demonstrates these principals and outlines specific measures you can take to protect your children from these detrimental effects. Most importantly, he shows us that it is never too late to make these nutritional changes.

CellPhones PDF Print E-mail

Cell Phones: Gotta Love 'em... Gotta Hate 'em...

I hate phones in general because when they ring you are supposed to jump up and pay attention like some Pavlovian dog. If you don't know who Pavlov was, he was an early 20th century behavioral psychologist that rang a bell every time he fed his dogs. After a while all he had to do was ring the bell and the dogs would come running and salivating all over themselves whether he fed them or not. While many of you girls who know me may disagree, I am NOT a dog LOL !!!  The whole theory is called "operant conditioning" and you can Scroogle that if ya like, but back to my "love / hate" relationship with phones...

I hate cellphones because they are just a very long leash or a long distance bell for someone to pull your chain or rip your cord no matter where you go or what you do. Fuck that... I don't think I love ANYONE that much ;o)

I hate cellphones cuz they COST A LOT OF MONEY!!! A good phone and plan is gonna cost ya between $40 to $100 per month. Fuck that. The average American is lucky if they come home with $10 per hour after taxes. So what are you gonna do? Work 4 to 10 hours a month just so somebody can pull your chain or ring your bell and take up more of your time??? I usually make $40 to $100 an hour, but in todays economy I only work a few hours a week on average and $40 to $100 per month sound like real money to me just like it does to most Americans, so like I said... Fuck that ;o)

OK ENOUGH WITH THE HATE LOL!!! ... I do kinda love that really long wireless wire that lets me get messages or connect with my friends when I can't find them at Disneyland or whatevers... That is mega cool... I also like cellphones cuz they are now cheaper than payphones... I just dropped a dollar calling a client from Wallymart (don't get me started on how fucked up this world is because of Wallymart, but click here for why!) ... What the fuck is up with Wallymart? Cheap Chinese Slave Labor made products all over the store, but $1 for a 20 minute local call? Fuck Wallymart!!!

OK BACK TO LOVE!!! What I love about cellphones is TEXTING. Texting is a great way to let someone know you are thinking about them without having to force yourself on them... without having to pull their chain or ring their bell... OK yeah it rings, but only as loud as they want it LOL... Only children expect an immediate reply cuz we adults HATE those stupid little buttons on our cellphones and we know it takes TIME to reply IF we have time to reply and are not busy doing what we gotta do to pay the bills or even have our cellphone with us to answer with... I DO like texting cuz it's instant email that doesn't require an instant reply and IF I can reply fast I just make the call and call back or at least send a SHORT reply cuz that's all you can really do by texting.

IF you have my cell # it's cuz I like you or love you or do business with you so TEXT me anytime cuz I gave you my number for a reason. Hell, I dunno where my cell is half the time and hearing it ring helps me find it hehehe...

Dial me for fun if you have my # !!!

Incredible Edible Food Revolution is Happening

What happens when two women in a small town realise that vegetables could be planted in the flowerbeds of the local parks and along the edges of the town's cemetery. A revolution, of a planting kind, is born. That's what happened in Todmorden, in Yorkshire. The women started planting rhubarb and chard and other vegetables in municipal tubs by the bus stop, on the railway platform, at the school, in the cemetery, outside the doctors' office. Their goal was to inspire others to start growing vegetables wherever they could: in their own back gardens, on balconies, outside their offices...

They launched their organisation "Incredible Edible Todmorden", with the goal of increasing the amount of local food grown and eaten in the town. Their aim is to have the town self-sufficient in food by 2018. The response has been overwhelming. The local council, to its credit, has given permission to plant 500 fruit trees around the local playing fields and is looking for plots to turn into new allotments. The town used to have 44 allotment sites and now it has only four.

"Todmorden is preparing for climate change and marshalling our many human resources to fit us for a future where we need to be more self sufficient in food." Reading through their list of projects gives an idea of how the townspeople, businesses and schools are getting involved, and it is inspiring. Graphic design students from the local college created a calendar to sell to raise money. The primary school has a small orchard and will soon be opening a group of 26 raised growing beds for community use. The high school has created poly tunnels to force plants and students are building raised flower beds out of timber from some demolished houses.

A community herb garden has been started and they are planning a local eggs coop to be launched in the spring. This is part of their Every Egg Matters campaign which hopes to ensure that every egg eaten in the town is grown locally. They also want to set up a land bank to share resources.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has been publicising the idea on his t.v. show River Cottage, and he visited the harvest festival where 400 attended and brought local produce: " from lemons to organic bread, local beer and wine to fish, herbs and vegetables filled the church.
